Counseling is a collaborative process where you meet with a trained mental health professional to explore challenges, build coping skills, and work toward personal growth and healing. It provides a safe, supportive space to talk openly and confidentially about your thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
-
Counseling can address a wide range of concerns, including:
Anxiety and stress
Depression and mood disorders
Trauma and grief
Relationship challenges
Parenting struggles
Life transitions, career changes, or identity exploration
At EMCounseling, our licensed providers are trained in multiple approaches to help you find relief and long-term resilience.
-
Your first session is an opportunity to share your story and goals. Your counselor will ask questions to better understand your background, challenges, and what you hope to achieve. Together, you’ll create a plan for ongoing sessions that feels right for you.
-
The length of counseling varies depending on your goals and needs. Some clients benefit from short-term counseling (6–12 sessions), while others choose longer-term therapy for deeper growth and ongoing support. Your counselor will discuss recommendations and progress with you along the way.
-
Most clients start with weekly sessions to build momentum. Over time, sessions may move to every other week or monthly as progress is made. Frequency is flexible and tailored to your needs.
-
Yes. We provide both in-person counseling at our Carmel, IN office and secure online sessions for clients across Indiana. This flexibility allows you to choose the option that best fits your schedule and comfort level.
-
We are currently out-of-network and private pay only. However, we can provide a superbill (an itemized receipt) that you may submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement of counseling sessions.
Benefits of private pay include:
Privacy: Your mental health records are kept confidential and not shared with insurance companies.
Flexibility: You and your counselor decide the type and length of treatment, without restrictions set by insurance.
Personalized care: No diagnostic label is required just to qualify for coverage, which helps keep the focus on your goals.
-
Our fees vary depending on the provider and type of counseling. Please contact our office for current session rates. We’ll be happy to discuss costs and help you plan accordingly.
Cost Per Session is on each of our clinician profile pages.

If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply want support to grow in healthier ways, counseling can be beneficial. You don’t need to be in crisis to begin therapy—many people use counseling as a proactive tool for personal development and better relationships.
